Ceremonial act: 150 years Technical University of Munich

Ludwig II, King of Bavaria, founded what is today the Technical University of Munich (TUM) on April 12, 1868. Gala ceremonies in the Herkulessaal of Munich's Residenz marking TUM's 150th anniversary will be attended by invited guests from the sciences, politics, business, culture and the community to commemorate this momentous historical event.

The guest of honor is German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The Minister President of Bavaria and the President of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) will honor the historical development of TUM, its current position in international competition and its global future perspectives. The evening will be hosted by television journalist Anouschka Horn. The Symphonisches Ensemble München, led by Prof. Felix Mayer, will provide musical accompaniment. Bavarian television will broadcast the entire event live.

Afterwards Bavaria’s Minister President will host a reception for the ceremony’s guests.
